Opinion: I see no choice but to resign from this Death Star as it begins to explode
Alexandra Petri for the Washington Post:
I understand that there might be some confusion about what exactly I’m doing, and why I’m doing this now, but I don’t think there should be. I am objecting, on principle, to staying on this Death Star for a single additional second. To those of you who would question my motives: I did know for a long time that the place I worked was a Death Star, but I have to say, until today, I didn’t understand that it was also very vulnerable to assault by a small one-man fighter because of a design flaw!
Must-See New Video Shows Capitol Riot Was Way Worse Than We Thought
Chris Hayes for MSNBC’s All In:
The Open Society and Its Enemies
Karl Popper:
"...the paradox of tolerance: Unlimited tolerance must lead to the disappearance of tolerance. If we extend unlimited tolerance even to those who are intolerant, if we are not prepared to defend a tolerant society against the onslaught of the intolerant, then the tolerant will be destroyed, and tolerance with them.—In this formulation, I do not imply, for instance, that we should always suppress the utterance of intolerant philosophies; as long as we can counter them by rational argument and keep them in check by public opinion, suppression would certainly be most unwise. But we should claim the right to suppress them if necessary even by force; for it may easily turn out that they are not prepared to meet us on the level of rational argument, but begin by denouncing all argument; they may forbid their followers to listen to rational argument, because it is deceptive, and teach them to answer arguments by the use of their fists or pistols. We should therefore claim, in the name of tolerance, the right not to tolerate the intolerant."

Fox News Argues Viewers Don't Assume Tucker Carlson Reports Facts
The Hollywood Reporter:
Tucker Carlson doesn't have an obligation to investigate the truth of statements before making them on his show, and his audience doesn't expect him to report facts, a lawyer for Fox News told a New York federal judge on Wednesday.
People should consider getting this paragraph tattooed on the back of their hands. That way, whenever someone says “well, according to Fox News,” the inevitable facepalm that follows will not only serve as a symbol of your frustration, it will also provide proof that they are a fucking moron.
Star Wars: Squadrons Reveal Trailer
The game’s name and some marketing images were leaked last week — which lead to EA confirming some of the details — and we’ll see gameplay footage Thursday during EA Play. Star Wars in VR is the only reason I’d ever consider buying Valve’s $1000 set-up.
Dalton Bennett, Sarah Cahlan, Aaron C. Davis, and Joyce Lee for The Washington Post:
Drawing on footage captured from dozens of cameras, as well as police radio communications and other records, The Washington Post reconstructed the events of this latest remarkable hour of Trump’s presidency, including of the roles of the agencies involved and the tactics and weaponry they used.

Most of Minneapolis City Council pledges to 'begin the process of ending' Police Department
Liz Navratil for the Star Tribune:
“Decades of police reform efforts have proved that the Minneapolis Police Department cannot be reformed and will never be accountable for its actions,” they said. “We are here today to begin the process of ending the Minneapolis Police Department and creating a new, transformative model for cultivating safety in Minneapolis.”
